- Will wear number 16 (walk-on quarterback Brent Poole will also wear 16).
- Two star dual-threat quarterback on Rivals and Scout. Also regarded as an athlete and will likely end up changing positions. A high school coach says he is going in with the mindset that he will play quarterback but says he could see him at tight end or safety.
- Mobile, Alabama (Daphne High School)
- Born: July 20, 1990
- Committed on the day before National Signing Day.
- 6’4″, 225 lbs. 4.52 sec 40 yard dash (I have also heard closer to 4.4 now). 3.5 GPA and 27 on the ACT.
- 2008 stats: 125 for 195 passing for 1,700 yards, 17 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Rushed for 605 yards and 8 touchdowns on 104 carries. Helped lead his team to a 6A playoff berth. 2007: minimal impact on offense. Threw three touchdowns on offense while picking off three passes on defense.
- Star of Alabama Week 6 game against Foley. Cooper had 384 total yards, was 15/24 passing for 268 yards. Ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
- Had offers from South Alabama and UAB. Planned on accepting a grayshirt offer to Auburn but ended up receiving a scholarship offer on May 21 after it became apparent that Reggie Taylor would not qualify.
- Took official visits to Auburn and UAB.
- Says he would have gone to UAB if it were not for Auburn.
- He is qualified and on campus.
